When it comes to models sharing beauty secrets, we’re all ears, especially when it comes to Cindy Crawford. Known for her young, radiant skin and perfectly groomed, voluminous hair, it’s no surprise that Crawford’s beauty routine involves paying attention to all part of his body, not just his face.
In a recent interview with New Beauty, the star revealed some of her must-have beauty secrets, along with her favorite shower products and exfoliating technique to keep her skin soft and hydrated.
âMy mom never wore makeup and used soap and water on her face, so I didn’t grow up knowing beauty products,â Crawford said in the interview. “That’s not to say that I haven’t noticed the beauty, but that’s probably why, even to this day, I go for more natural looks and⦠keep it simple.”
The same concept of simplicity applies to her easy shower routine. Coming up, check out the model’s diet for clean, exfoliated skin everywhere.
She focuses on exfoliation
âI’m a big fan of exfoliating my body, and I have more than one way to do it,â Crawford said. To exfoliate properly, she uses the Elemis Body Detox Skin Brush or her favorite antibacterial plastic pink shower mitt (similar to this one.)
Dry brushing has become a popular skincare trend thanks to its ability to reduce the appearance of cellulite while leaving skin super smooth and glowing. “Dry brushing is exactly what it sounds like,” said Heidi A Waldorf, MD, clinical associate professor of dermatology at Icahn’s Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City in a previous interview for Prevention.com.
âEssentially, you take a soft bristle brush and rub it over your skin to remove dead skin cells. It’s a basic exfoliation methodExplains Dr Waldorf.
But, she notes that when dry brushing, you should “only use shorter periods, minimal pressure, and no more than once a week.” As soon as you are done, be sure to coat yourself with a moisturizing body lotion since exfoliation can lead to dryness, adds Dr. Waldorf.
Her favorite shower gel cleanses and revitalizes the skin
Next, Crawford uses Dermalogica Eucalyptus + Lavender Revitalizing Body Wash. âThis is the shower gel that my husband and I agree to,â she said. “I use it most of the time.”
Inspired by essential oils diffused in Turkish hammams, this shower gel has a silky smooth cleansing formula that includes skin nourishing ingredients like provitamin B5, sandalwood, lavender and clary sage that work to smooth and revitalize the skin. The shower gel also includes aromatic oils like French rosemary, Chinese eucalyptus, tea tree, and lemon oils which cleanse the skin.
She washes her hair about every three days
âEven though I thought I had to wash my hair every day, as I get older I try to wait longer between washes,â Crawford said. To keep her locks clean, she uses her Meaningful Beauty Fortifying Shampoo and Scalp Restorative Treatment.
Crawford is the founder of Meaningful Beauty and has designed an âaging resistantâ hair care system specifically for those with aging hair issues like dullness, dryness and brittle texture. Key ingredients include an amaranth extract complex, which increases shine after use, and peptides for stronger, thicker, and more resilient hair.
